BCNET welcomes new directors of the Board
On Monday September 21, we held our Annual General Meeting where our Board appointed six new directors:
- Kevin Brewster, Assistant Deputy Minister & Executive Financial Officer at the B.C. Ministry of Advanced Education
- Jennifer Burns, Chief Information Officer at The University of British Columbia
- Alan Davis, President and Vice Chancellor at Kwantlen Polytechnic University
- Anna Machaj, Chief Information Officer at Vancouver Island
- University Matt Milovick, Vice-President, Administration and Finance at Thompson Rivers University
- Mark Roman, Chief Information Officer at Simon Fraser University
Outgoing Board members
We wish to thank former chair and Board member, Jay Black, the prior chief information officer at Simon Fraser University for his service to BCNET and its member stakeholders. Black served as chair of the Board for four years. His dedication and leadership was instrumental in helping BCNET change direction to become a full IT services organization serving the entire public, pos-secondary sector.
"Jay made a tremendous contribution to the Board and our member community during the four years that he served," says Paul Stokes, chair of the BCNET Board of Directors. "I would like to extend my sincere thanks for his significant contributions to the growth, development and evolution of BCNET.
We would also like to thank: Oliver GrĂ¼ter-Andrew, former chief information officer at the University of British Columbia, for serving on the Board for the past five years; Ron Burnett, president of Emily Carr University of Art + Design for his Board contributions for the last eleven years and Claire Avison, assistant deputy minister, Governance, Legislation and Strategic Policy at the Ministry of Advanced Education for her Board contributions, since 2014.
