Institutions are grappling with how to support, guide, and, at times, constrain the uses of GenAI in academic work to ensure its integrity and promote student learning.

In this session, hear about how UBC has engaged with its academic community to understand how graduate and undergraduate students are perceiving and using GenAI (or not), and what they are telling us about the support they need to navigate this complex arena.

We will share our process and outcomes of developing guidance resources that assist students, faculty instructors, and advisors to determine appropriate, ethical approaches to GenAI. This includes touching on issues such as academic integrity, cultural norms in academic disciplines, student learning and career development objectives, and Indigenous data sovereignty.
