The UBC Office of the CIO’s Engagement Services team fosters a strong relationship between IT teams and their clients (academic and administrative units) with dedicated IT liaisons and an Engagement Framework that builds trust, streamlines communication, and aligns IT services with the university’s mission. The Engagement Services team collaborates with units across the institution to understand their unique needs and provide tailored IT solutions that align with broader university goals. Through proactive collaboration, structured engagement, and unit-specific specialized IT support, the team helps ensure that technology services meet the evolving needs of the UBC community, from product launches and service changes to AI solutions.

This session will cover:

  • The Engagement Framework developed by the UBC Office of the CIO
  • How a relationship-based engagement model enhances IT service delivery
  • Best practices for effective stakeholder engagement, establishing collaborative partnerships, and IT alignment with institutional and unit goals
  • Challenges and lessons learned in embedding engagement as a core IT function

This session is for IT leaders and professionals in higher education, university administrators, and faculty members seeking to improve stakeholder collaboration. While sharing our journey at UBC, this session will offer actionable insights and a roadmap for other organizations seeking to build a similar collaborative IT culture.
