Earlier challenges in our CRM journey
In 2019, TRU initiated a project to implement a cross-institution CRM solution which soon ran into difficulties. An external review of the project highlighted key challenges and provided recommendations which were adopted.
TRU Integrated Strategic Planning Proposal
In 2023, we gathered requirements, approved a business case, and went to market for an enterprise CRM solution. We selected Technolution’s Slate CRM as our solution of choice and Kennedy & Company as an implementation partner and launched a new project in September 2024.
Clean Slate: advancing the TRU Student Experience with Slate CRM
Initially, we limited our phase one scope to domestic, undergraduate recruitment and admissions. Due to changing priorities, we have since decided to expand our phase one scope. We plan to design and build once for all recruitment and admission activities, both domestic and international.
Further roadmap considerations
Our roadmap for 2025 includes a second phase of work to implement a minimum viable product for Slate Student Success module, sufficient to migrate users off the legacy CRM system and into Slate. From there we will follow the student lifecycle to implement more of the Student Success functionality and consolidate other CRM user groups into Slate.
BCNET future support
We are working on a BC community of interest for institutions actively implementing Slate CRM. One of the challenges is the lack of Canadian implementation partners and we see an opportunity here for BCNET future support.
