Together with UBC, BCNET successfully launched EduCloud Server, a virtual data centre service in 2016. The self-managed, private, higher education cloud service was widely adopted by 88% of member institutions in B.C. In 2017, we announced one-time funding of $1.4 million from the Ministry of Advanced Education to expand the existing service. The expansion is wholly driven by members who need geographic diversity to distribute workloads away from their primary data centres, protect against natural disasters, and greatly reduce operational risk and IT costs. In this session, you will learn about what's new in EduCloud 2.0 with a preview of the service and what's on the horizon for EduCloud.
