Three VP Admins from across the sector, with extensive and varied experience will share their perspectives.  You will also hear more about how to create an effective relationship with “Administration” that results in increased support for information technology at your institution.  Along the way, you will have the opportunity to get to know three VP Admins from across the sector and have a little fun.

Gayle Gorill
Former Vice-President, Finance and Operations | University of Victoria

Gayle Gorrill was the Vice President Finance & Operations at the University of Victoria for 15 years. During that time she was active across the sector including as President of CAUBO. She is currently the Chair of the Board of BCNET and sits on a committee with CANARIE related to cybersecurity. Prior to UVic, Gayle held leadership positions at UCalgary and the Calgary Health Region. Gayle holds designations of FCPA and ICD.D.

Jackie Hogan
Chief Financial Officer & Vice-President Administration | University of the Fraser Valley

Jackie Hogan has served as the Chief Financial Officer and Vice-President Administration since 2010. She is a Chartered Professional Accountant, CPA-CGA, and holds a Bachelor of Accounting Science degree from the University of Calgary, and Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Heriot Watt University. As CFO & VP Administration, Jackie is responsible for and provides leadership to financial and administrative support services. The portfolio includes resource planning and enterprise risk, financial services, information technology services, health and safety, campus planning, facilities management, and supply chain. As an administrator and leader, Jackie places value on collaboration, inclusivity, and relationships, and is known for being organized, detail-oriented, and approachable. Jackie works with a dedicated and professional team of directors and staff; the division strives to be a strategic partner with units across the university to ensure UFV remains financially sustainable, and that financial resources and administrative services align with the mission and strategic plans of the university.

Jackie is involved in the post-secondary sector at the provincial level and serves as the chair of the BCAIU finance committee, member of the ASC steering committee, and has previously served as PSEA board member. She is also actively engaged in her community and currently serves on the board of the Abbotsford Community Foundation. When not hard at work in the office, Jackie spends her time with her husband and two daughters, and enjoys hiking, walking dogs, yoga and reading.
 

Kerry Clarke
Vice President, College Services & CFO | Selkirk College

Kerry Clarke joined Selkirk College in the fall of 2017 as Vice President, Student Services and CFO. With over 20 years providing leadership and management to departments that include Finance & Ancillary Services, Human Resources, Facilities and Maintenance, and IT, Mr. Clarke brings a passion to his current role to help learners achieve their aspirational dreams. In addition to his role with Selkirk College Mr. Clarke’s governance experience includes work as a trustee for the College Pension Plan representing Post-Secondary Institutions and he sits on the Board of Directors for the Castlegar and District Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Clarke holds a Master of Business Administration from Herriot-Watt University in Edinburgh and enjoys travelling and spending time with his wife Jill outside of work.

Rahim Somani
Vice President Finance and Administration | University of Northern British Columbia

Rahim Somani provides leadership and oversight over Finance and Administrative Services at the University of Northern British Columbia. The Vice President, Finance and Administration portfolio comprises Financial Services, Treasury and Payroll Services, Contracts and Supply Chain Management, Budget and Integrated Planning, Human Resources, Facilities Management and Capital Planning, Safety, Security and Risk Management, Health and Wellbeing, and Business and Ancillary Services, which comprises Housing and Residential Services, Hospitality Services, Retail Services, Continuing Studies, Athletics and Northern Sport Centre. As part of the President’s Executive Council, Rahim leads strategic, financial and operational planning, and is relied on for his expertise, leadership, innovation, collaboration, relationship building, organizational development and change management skills.
