BCNET Announces Board Changes
We are pleased to announce changes to the BCNET Board of Directors.
BCNET Welcomes New Board Chair, Vice-Chair and Board Member
A new Board Chair was elected at the Annual General Meeting held on Wednesday, September 20, 2017.
Dr. Steve Grundy, Vice-President, Academic & Provost at Royal Roads University is elected for a two-year term. Dr. Grundy holds a PhD in chemistry from the University of Sheffield in England. His research interests have ranged from synthetic chemistry to environmental science. Dr. Grundy has served on the BCNET Board for 11 years and is also a board member of the Canadian Virtual University.
“I look forward to serving as Chair of the BCNET Board of Directors and to continue to evolve shared services for higher education in British Columbia,” says Dr. Grundy.
A Vice-Chair of the Board was also elected at the Annual General Meeting.
Gayle Gorrill, Vice-President, Finance & Operations at the University of Victoria is elected for a two-year term. Gayle has served as Vice-President of Finance and Operations at the University of Victoria for over a decade. She has participated on a number of boards including past president of the Canadian Association of University of Business Officers. Gayle is a Fellow of the Chartered Professional Accountants Association and earned a ICD.D designation at the Institute of Corporate Directors.
One new Board member, David Cresswell, Associate Director, Strategic Practices at the British Columbia Institute of Technology was appointed at the Annual General Meeting. David’s professional career spans nearly 40 years of information technology and leadership experience in private and public-sector organizations, as well as corporate and not-for-profit Board experience.
BCNET Thanks Brian Mackay, Former Board Chair
We wish to thank former Board Chair, Brian Mackay, Associate Vice-President Digital Strategies and Chief Information Officer at Thompson Rivers University, for his dedication and contributions to BCNET and its member stakeholders. Brian served as the Chair for two years and will continue to serve as a Board member. His dedication and leadership were instrumental in helping BCNET evolve as a shared services organization.
