Banner Document Management at University of the Fraser Valley
Ellucian Banner Document Management (BDM) & Retention software is fully integrated with Banner. It centrally stores electronic documents to support business processes of the office of the registrar, student services, international education, finance, HR, and purchasing.
A subset of Document Management functionality—known as Document Imaging—was enabled by a homegrown custom application. The software was generated by technical support and required extensive re-design, which represented a major risk to the operations of the office of the registrar.
UFV opted for a phased implementation approach, limiting initial BDM roll out to the users at the office of the registrar. Future phases were planned for student services, international education, finance, HR, and purchasing. The project included the provision and configuration of BDM on-site infrastructure, business needs analysis, document type definition, system setup, and migration of 1.5 million legacy images.
