In this session, we will tell the story of the building of CLAS at UBC and its transformation into WeVu Video in the commercial marketplace. The session will begin with an introduction to the CLAS/WeVu software. We will outline some of the key success factors for the building of learning technology within a higher education institution. We will describe the process by which these innovations can 'get legs' and become commercially viable products. We will workshop our ideas about the need for change in the marketing of educational technologies, particularly around pricing. The session should be of value for anyone involved with the development of applications within an institution who is concerned about the sustainability of the product.
