Built, owned and operated by the higher education and research community in British Columbia, the BCNET Advanced Network is a dedicated, ultra-high-speed, fibre optic network that operates at speeds of up to 100 gigabits per second.
The BCNET Advanced Network is British Columbia's network that moves big data between the province's research and higher education institutions. The Advanced Network extends over 9,980 kilometres and directly connects 179 colleges, institutes, research universities, federal and provincial labs and research institution sites in British Columbia.
The BCNET Network is one of twelve territorial or provincial partners that collectively form the CANARIE Canadian National Research and Education Network (NREN). All provincial partners connect to the CANARIE national backbone to enable peers across the country and more than 100 global research and education networks.
